Who says politicians can’t have some fun do the people’s business?
Daily Mail reports that who would believe lawmakers have a sense of humor?
Well they do in Oregon.
A dozen state politicians slipped the lyrics of Rick Astley's eighties number one hit Never Gonna Give You Up into their speeches on the floor of the House of Representatives last year.
They did it under the noses of colleagues, lobbyists, staff and the public. The video released on April Fool's Day went viral and has had 780,000 views.
Mastermind behind the practical joke was 37-year-old Portland Democrat Jefferson Smith who is eager to have a little fun while doing the people's business.
He dreamt up the idea while talking to his wife Katy about a prank that would lighten the decisive political mood among his colleagues.
He wondered if he could Rick Roll - to be tricked, through any method, into clicking a link that takes you to the Rick Astley video Never Gonna Give You Up - the legislature without anybody noticing?
The nearly two-minute long video shows members saying the lyrics of the pop ballad literally one word or phrase at a time while in session.
I remember this joint from the mid 80s by the funky white boy with a soulful voice, Rick Astley. It was a really hot tune back in the day.
